Add vanilla and blend well. Add egg yolk and mix thoroughly. Gradually add flour and salt; stir until dough is smooth. Place dough into a cookie press and form cookies on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400-degrees for 5 minutes, or until edges are golden brown. When cookies are cool, decorate with icing, if desired.
